2nd Shift Supervisor - Colby, WI

The purpose of this position is to provide communication, guidance, and coaching for all production personnel. Execute operational plans that meet or exceed goals, continually improve people, products, processes, and production efficiencies while optimizing cost. Ensure that people and product safety are first and foremost.

Working Relationships: The 2nd Shift Supervisor works collaboratively with Production, Quality, Safety, and Maintenance people on the plant floor to ensure engagement. This position reports directly to the 2nd Shift Manager and understands all aspects of plant operations and systems. Must obtain and maintain Leadership, HACCP Training, and Continuous Improvement Systems and Tools

Authority: 2nd Shift Supervisor has the authority to modify work schedules, approve OT, sick, and vacation time in partnership with 2nd Shift Manager, Plant Superintendent, Production Manager and Human Resources. Provides performance coaching to ensure company policies and procedures are applied evenly and actively followed.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Providing communications, guidance, and coaching to the 2nd Shift Team to assure that in-process and finished products meet or exceed quality and customer specifications.
  • Determines and communicates sanitation schedules, duties, and work-flow. Implements through timely coaching and review of written instructions.
  • Ensures employees are trained in SOP’s, GMPs, HAACP, Food Safety, Food Defense, Allergen, Safety, and company policies and these programs are closely followed.
    • Alerts the Plant & Quality Managers of incidents that may have an effect on the Safety / Quality / Integrity / Security of raw materials, packaging components, and finished products.
  • Lead the 2nd Shift Sanitation team by promoting a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, safety policies, chemical handling requirements, PPE standards, and OSHA regulations. Immediately address and correct unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Prioritize daily sanitation activities based on production schedules, food safety requirements, equipment availability, and business needs to ensure all areas are completed on time and to standard.
  • Assign work responsibilities to sanitation team members and monitor progress to ensure efficient completion of all scheduled tasks.
  • Execute the sanitation plan established by the 2nd Shift Sanitation Manager and communicate any issues that may impact production readiness.
  • Ensure all sanitation activities comply with GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP, food safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct post-operational inspections to verify equipment and production areas are clean, sanitized, and ready for production.
  • Work closely with Production Management, Quality Assurance, Safety, and Maintenance to coordinate sanitation activities, resolve issues, and support plant operations.
  • Coach, train, and develop sanitation employees while reinforcing safe work practices, standard operating procedures, and company expectations.
  • Monitor employee performance, attendance, and productivity, providing timely coaching and corrective action when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate sanitation documentation, inspection records, chemical usage logs, and other required regulatory documentation.
  • Verify proper use, storage, and inventory of sanitation chemicals, tools, and equipment.
  • Identify sanitation, safety, or operational concerns and implement corrective and preventive actions in a timely manner.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits by ensuring sanitation practices and documentation meet compliance requirements.
  • Conduct routine shift meetings to communicate daily priorities, safety expectations, production readiness, and performance goals.
  • Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve sanitation processes, safety performance, labor efficiency, and overall effectiveness.
  • Communicate shift performance, staffing concerns, equipment issues, and sanitation status to the 2nd Shift Sanitation Manager to ensure effective shift-to-shift communication.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the 2nd Shift Sanitation Manager.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$58,100.00 - $108,000.00
