Job Description

Alene Candles LLC & Midwest is a private label, contract manufacturer that produces high-quality candles for some of the world’s most recognized retail, boutique, and cosmetic brands. Shift: 2nd- 2:30pm-10:30pm

Note: QA Coordinator leads a lower number of employees or in special areas or shifts where a full supervisor is not requiring, but direct supervision is needed.

Role and Responsibilities

· Performs steps necessary to approve production lots for release to ship including 1st offline burn testing.

· Manages a sample process to insure correct labeling information on raw materials, labels, products and containers.

· Communicates with manager and vendors to request documentation (standards, certificates of analysis, etc.) and answer questions as needed.

· Performs inspections of finished goods as required.

· Ensures incoming inspection criteria defined, communicated, and documented. Assists incoming inspection technicians as required.

· Provides guidance on quality assurance standards to all departments as required.

· Provides day to day oversight and guidance to in process and end of line inspections. Will be involved in data collection and trend reporting.

· Keeps track of standards received.

· Keeps track of lab samples received.

· Trains new Quality Staff

· Maintain Alene standards of performance and comply with housekeeping, safety policies and procedures.

· Leads and participated in lean and 5S initiatives

· Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.

· Maintain Quality database and reporting.

· Aids in ship release and IFS approvals, COO, & Deviations.

· Coordinates Vendor Returns & CAR interactions (Cannot issue CAR directly)

· Coordinates Customer communication on approvals, defects, and testing where needed (As QM directs)

Education required

· Associates degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Food Science or related technical discipline is preferred.

Range of Experience:

· Minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training in a lead or indirect supervisory role.

· Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· ERP experience is a plus

· Six Sigma and Lean knowledge a plus

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent team building and communications skills
  • Ability to work accurately, with interruptions, to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledgeable in statistical process control.
  • Knowledgeable in the concepts of LEAN Manufacturing and 5S
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Ability to do analysis, draw conclusions, makes recommendations.
  • Previous process industries experience a plus such as food or cosmetics.
  • Ability to work without close supervision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or touch; reach, talk, hear and smell. The employee may be required to, kneel, crouch, sit, climb or balance. The employee may lift and/or move up to more than 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee may be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, and aromas. The employee is occasionally exposed to airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
