Astemo Rock Spring, Inc. was established in 2000 and supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru. We are in Rock Spring, GA, and operate on 3 shifts with 400 employees. We have three main manufacturing departments, Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly. We are part of Astemo, Inc. with 90,000 employees worldwide.

Tasks and Responsibilities

As a Machining Maintenance Technician at Astemo Rock Spring, Inc., you will play a vital role in the maintenance and reliability of our machining equipment. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and optimal performance of our machining processes. Your technical expertise and attention to detail will be instrumental in minimizing downtime, implementing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment issues.

  • Perform routine maintenance activities on machining equipment, following established schedules and procedures to ensure optimal machine performance.
  • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubrication, and calibration, to maintain equipment reliability and extend machine life.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor and engineers to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, utilizing your technical acumen to identify and implement effective solutions.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, performing repairs and adjustments as needed.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines, procedures, and lockout/tagout protocols during all maintenance activities, promoting a safe work environment within the Machining department.
  • Complete maintenance documentation, including work orders, equipment records, and repair logs, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Coordinate equipment setup and changeovers, working closely with production teams to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, providing suggestions for process enhancements and participating in projects to optimize equipment performance.
  • Stay updated on new technologies, best practices, and industry trends in machining maintenance through continuous learning and professional development opportunities.

When accomplishing tasks, remember to work toward meeting overall company goals established which include, OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance.

Safety & Environmental:

  • Adhere to safety guidelines, procedures, and regulations to foster a safe work environment for all team members.
  • Support environmental initiatives and comply with relevant environmental regulations and standards.

Quality

  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance teams to ensure that machining processes meet established quality standards.
  • Monitor equipment performance and notify the Maintenance Supervisor of any quality-related concerns or potential improvements.

Delivery

  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth operation and on-time delivery of machined components, providing timely response to maintenance requests.

Productivity

  • Identify opportunities for productivity improvements within the machining processes and equipment maintenance, collaborating with the Maintenance Supervisor to implement measures that increase efficiency and optimize resource utilization.

Reporting:

  • Provide regular updates to the Maintenance Supervisor on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and improvements implemented.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to gather and analyze data for reporting purposes, ensuring accuracy and relevance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills, enabling efficient equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Experience in conducting routine maintenance and troubleshooting equipment issues within a machining environment.
  • Knowledge of machining equipment, tools, and technologies.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow maintenance procedures precisely.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with the team.

Minimum Experienced Preferred:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in equipment maintenance or a related field, demonstrating familiarity with maintenance practices and troubleshooting techniques within a machining environment.
  • Basic understanding of machining processes and equipment maintenance requirements.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to changing priorities.

Key Metrics Responsibility:

  • Equipment uptime, meantime between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), and equipment reliability.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods, performing physically demanding tasks, and occasionally lifting heavy objects.
