Position Overview:
FR Conversions is seeking a hands-on, results-driven 2nd Shift Fabrication & Machining Supervisor (Pre Production) to lead a dynamic team of welders, assemblers, fabricators, and machine operators. This salaried leadership role is responsible for managing all aspects of second shift operations in the Pre Production area, ensuring efficient material flow, consistent production output, and adherence to quality standards. Key Responsibilities:
Shift Leadership & Team Oversight
- Supervise daily operations of the 2nd shift Pre Production team, ensuring production schedules and quality standards are met.
- Lead and motivate second-shift personnel to meet goals in quality, productivity, and safety.
- Conduct shift startup meetings, assign job duties, and monitor team performance throughout the shift.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance reviews for second shift employees.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and participate in disciplinary processes as necessary.
Production & Process Management
- Review work orders, material availability, and production tracking systems to align team efforts with operational priorities.
- Quickly identify and resolve production bottlenecks, equipment malfunctions, or staffing gaps to maintain workflow.
- Monitor workflow to ensure smooth part movement between stations and departments.
- Partner with the Plant Manager and other departmental leaders to support continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
Quality & Safety Compliance
- Enforce safety policies, PPE compliance, and 5S/housekeeping standards in all work areas.
- Ensure team adherence to standard operating procedures and quality control checkpoints.
- Escalate quality issues and coordinate timely corrective actions for nonconforming products.
- Demonstrate and reinforce a safety-first mindset and ensure a clean, organized work environment .
Salary & Compensation
This is a full-time, salaried, FLSA exempt position. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications and complies with all applicable labor laws and company policies.

QualificationsRequirements &
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or college coursework preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing, assembly, or fabrication environment.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory or lead role within a fabrication-based manufacturing environment, with direct oversight of skilled trades. Candidates must demonstrate experience training employees, troubleshooting production issues, and improving processes across machining, metalworking, or finishing areas.
Technical Knowledge
- Familiarity with hand tools, mechanical assembly, welding, or fabrication processes.
- Ability to read and interpret production documentation, basic blueprints, and work instructions.
- Proficient in using scheduling, timekeeping, and production reporting systems.
Leadership Skills
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to drive accountability and positive performance.
- Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively coach employees and manage conflict in a fast-moving environment.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to lift 50–100 pounds independently.
- Physical ability to work a full shift involving lifting, bending, twisting, and kneeling in a loud, non-environmentally controlled production area.
- Willingness to operate a forklift; certification preferred or will be provided through on-the-job training.
