Job Description

As aDiesel Mechanic with Waste Connections, your primary responsibility is to keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently. Key duties include:

  • Performing preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel trucks and heavy equipment
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems
  • Utilizing vehicle computer diagnostic systems to identify failures and program engine and vehicle control modules
  • Responding to road calls and emergency repairs as needed
  • Reviewing, completing, or assigning repairs based on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)
  • Completing maintenance documentation using fleet maintenance software
  • Test driving vehicles before and after repairs to ensure proper operation
  • Supporting team members with repairs and troubleshooting when needed
  • Maintaining professional, courteous communication with drivers and coworkers
  • Keeping a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and OSHA standards
  • Performing additional job-related duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, candidates should have:

  • Strong experience with diesel engine diagnostics, repair, and preventative maintenance
  • Proficiency using a variety of diesel diagnostic tools
  • A basic set of mechanic tools
  • Class B CDL (or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire)
  • Hydraulic system experience (preferred but not required)
  • A strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and service excellence
