Job Description

The Cumberland Valley School District seeks elementary candidates with the talent and skills to support the district's vision and mission. This position requires an active K-6 or PK-4 Elementary Pennsylvania Teaching Certification. Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of the physical and psychological aspects of elementary-aged children, be able to teach the approved curricula, and have good communication skills.

In order to do so, highly qualified candidates must demonstrate their ability to:

• Articulate curriculum, instruction, assessment, and their own professional development to best ensure that every child has the opportunity to reach their potential.
• Use traditional and digital communication tools that help parents, teachers, and students make sound decisions about teaching and learning.
• Create feelings of connection and shared responsibility for student learning among parents, students, educators, and the community.
• Work hand in hand with special education and support services to meet the unique needs of every child in their classroom.
• Respect all educational stakeholders, embrace diversity, and maintain long-standing Cumberland Valley School District traditions.
• Work efficiently and effectively while being forward-thinking and committed to continual improvement.
• Be committed to helping maintain the excellence for which the Cumberland Valley School District is known.

In addition to being qualified and knowledgeable in the specific area of certification required, we are seeking individuals trained in:

• The Danielson Framework for Teaching
• Mastery Learning
• Student-Level Data Analysis and Interpretation
• Classroom Technology Integration
• Structured Literacy and the Science of Reading
• Inquiry-Based Learning
• Special Education
• Being a Team Player, Problem Solver, and Lifelong Learner

If hired for employment, the applicant must be able to submit the following:

1. Criminal Record Check (less than one year old)
2. PA Child Abuse History Clearance (less than one year old)
3. FBI Fingerprint Clearance (less than one year old)
4. TB Test/Mantoux (less than 3 months old)
5. Physical - if applicable (less than 1 year old)
