Key Responsibilities

The Second Engineer serves as the primary deputy to the Chief Engineer, assuming full responsibility for the engine department in the Chief’s absence. This role focuses on the direct organization and supervision of daily operations, managing both junior engineering officers and engine room ratings. Key duties include the preparation of main propulsion systems for sea, the maintenance of all auxiliary, cargo, and deck machinery, and ensuring the general cleanliness and structural integrity of machinery spaces.
