Job Description

As a 2D/UI Artists you will hands-on craft our game art by creating UI elements, icons, art assets, illustrations as well as implementing these into the game. You will be the bridge between our UX and 2D art team, and be responsible for implementing the UX wireframe designs into the game engine, ensuring that the UI looks great while being consistent in style and be accessible and easy to understand for the player.

You will also help develop and improve the look of Crusader Kings 3 UIs with a meticulous eye for detail, high-quality artwork, and a strong knowledge of UX. You will work closely with the rest of the art team and the Art Manager to get there. At our studio, everyone is a designer. As a 2D/UI Artist, you'll be an essential part of that, actively shaping the grand vision of Crusader Kings 3 alongside the rest of the team.

Skills & Requirements

  • Professional experience as a 2D/UI artist with a strong portfolio to show it.
  • Great knowledge of using digital painting software, such as Photoshop.
  • Strong 2D art fundamentals: Composition, Lighting, Material Expression, and Color, with the ability to create and match the Crusader Kings 3 Style.
  • Familiarity with scripting and UI implementation, and a general technical problem-solving mindset.
  • Understanding of UX principles and the ability to work closely with UX Designers and Game Designers to create the best possible player experience.
  • Experience with designing UI from a UX framework to final implementation.
  • Utilizing AI-assisted software development tools when scripting.
  • A friendly, helpful, and collaborative mindset working well in a team-based environment.
  • Fluency in English both written and spoken

Desirable

  • 3D experience in e.g. Blender or Maya
  • Passion for Paradox’s grand strategy titles or modding and interest in medieval historical themes.
  • Professional experience from working in a game development team on a live title.
  • Passion for history and maintaining historical accuracy, interest in world culture and historical research.
