Job Description

As a Dispatcher/Clerk Security, you will be the vital link between various stakeholders, including school staff, campus safety officers, and emergency services. Your role is to prioritize and manage incoming calls and radio communications, ensuring a swift and appropriate response to any situation. You will also monitor security cameras, alarm systems, and dispatch maintenance technicians as needed. This position requires a calm and decisive approach, especially during emergencies, and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Answer and screen emergency and non-emergency calls, allocating resources and personnel accordingly.
  • Operate and monitor a multi-channel radio system for effective communication.
  • Document and track campus safety officer activities using a CAD system.
  • Access and query school databases for relevant information, including student safety reports.
  • Observe security camera feeds to identify and report any suspicious activities.
  • Issue security access cards and alarm codes to authorized personnel.
  • Provide phone support for emergency maintenance work orders and dispatch technicians.
  • Send out emergency messages and notifications to the district when necessary.
  • Assist with translation and communication using second language skills, if applicable.
  • Perform other administrative tasks and provide support as assigned.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum of two years of general work experience is preferred.
  • Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
  • Excellent typing, oral, and written communication skills, with a professional phone and radio presence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Google Suite, and Work Order maintenance systems.
  • Willingness to work overtime and be on-call for after-hours emergencies.
  • Criminal background check must be cleared prior to hire.
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
