
The Student Assistant supports the Office for Multicultural & International Student Services (OMISS) by assisting with various initiatives and programs aimed at promoting diversity, empowerment, and belonging within Saint Mary’s College. This role provides valuable administrative support, helps facilitate events and workshops, and engages in activities that advance Division objectives on campus.
Key Responsibilities:
● Administrative Support:
○ Assist with scheduling and coordinating meetings, events, and workshops related to OMISS initiatives.
○ Help with preparing and distributing materials, including flyers, brochures, and presentations.
○ Maintain and update databases, spreadsheets, and other records as needed.
● Event Coordination:
○ Support the planning and execution of OMISS-related events, including workshops, seminars, and community outreach programs.
○ Assist with logistical arrangements, including setting up spaces, managing registrations, and ensuring events run smoothly.
● Communication:
○ Draft and edit communications such as emails and social media posts to promote Division initiatives and events.
○ Assist with outreach to student organizations, faculty, and staff to encourage participation in OMISS events and programs.
● Student Engagement:
○ Serve as a point of contact for students seeking information about OMISS programs and resources.
● Miscellaneous
○ Attend monthly staff meetings
○ Attend regular meetings with Supervisor
○ Participate in learning opportunities that build professional and leadership skills ○ Occasionally provide administrative support to Division for Belonging staff ○ Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
● Currently enrolled as a student at Saint Mary’s College
● Strong interest in and commitment to diversity, empowerment, and belonging
● Excellent organizational and time management skills
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite, and familiarity with social media platforms
● Proficiency in Canva
● Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
● Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
● Confidentiality is of utmost importance
Work Schedule:
● 10 to 12 hours per week
● Monday - Friday
● Flexible around class schedule
