SALARY $95,955.40 - $141,386.20*
*Salary: For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current state employees, salary will be a promotional calculation.
The Mission Support Bureau manages New Jersey’s statewide domestic extremists, foreign terrorist organizations, targeted violence, and hostile foreign intelligence threat intake and coordination process and maintains critical relationships with New Jersey’s public and private-sector partners.
The selected candidate will report directly to the Mission Support Bureau Chief and will serve as the dedicated supervisor for the Partner Engagement Unit which includes the following programs:
Counter-Threat Coordinator/Municipal Counter-Threat Coordinator (CTC/MCTC) Program – The CTC/MCTC program manages liaison activities with 21 county-threat coordinators and 550+ municipal counter-threat coordinators and regularly engage partners on homeland security related issues.
Interfaith Advisory Council – The Interfaith Advisory Council is a network designed to facilitate the sharing of information with faith-based organizations and pertinent members of their communities around New Jersey, which is crucial to keeping religious communities safe and secure in one of the most diverse states in the nation.
Regional Operations Intelligence Center (ROIC) Liaison – The ROIC Liaison serves as the primary link between NJOHSP, New Jersey State Police Critical Infrastructure Bureau and the Regional Operations Intelligence Center (ROIC) Threat Analysis Unit, responsible for coordinating communication and alignment with NJOHSP priorities.
As the Supervising Investigator, the selected candidate will provide daily oversight, coordinate schedules and assignments, support staff activities, maintain accountability and ensure the integrity of the Partner Engagement Unit’s work. Duties will include but are not limited to:
Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester-hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
Nine (9) years of professional experience in the conduct of civil or criminal investigations related to compliance, enforcement, detection, and surveillance activity, including the preparation of investigative reports, one (1) year of which shall have been in a team leader, or lead investigator capacity. OR
Nine (9) years of professional experience in the conduct of investigative administrative audits and/or regulatory examinations of records maintained by businesses and organizations, one (1) year of which shall have been in a team leader, or lead investigator capacity. OR
Nine (9) years of professional experience in the conduct of investigations for the government, the military, consumer protection programs, public advocacy organizations, or the public interest, one (1) year of which shall have been in a team leader, or lead investigator capacity. OR
Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and five (5) years of the above-mentioned professional experience, one (1) year of which shall have been in a team leader, or lead investigator capacity. OR
Possession of a juris doctorate or a master's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration, Law, or a related field; and four (4) years of the above-mentioned professional experience, one (1) year of which shall have been in a team leader, or lead investigator capacity.
Note: Completion of a supervised internship field placement of 300 hours in an undergraduate curriculum in Criminal Justice or a related degree program may be substituted for one (1) year of the non-supervisory experience.
Note: "Professional experience" refers to work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the authority to act according to one's own judgment and make accurate and informed decisions.
License: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
Preference: The ideal candidate will possess extensive executive or command level law enforcement
experience with established relationships across county and municipal agencies. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to adapt to changing schedules, priorities, and outreach demands. The candidate must demonstrate professionalism and confidence when engaging diverse communities, including faith-based organizations, while maintaining a deep understanding of law enforcement operations and protocols.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Applicants should be aware that all NJOHSP employees must be a U. S. Citizen due to the fact that they need to be eligible to obtain a Secret or Top-Secret Clearance from the federal government. U. S. citizenship is a requirement for obtaining such clearance. Additionally, a criminal and personal background investigation is conducted on all NJOHSP personnel. The inability to obtain or maintain the required clearance will be a basis for dismissal from employment.
REMOTE WORK OR ALTERNATE WORKWEEK PROGRAM: NJOHSP currently offers a hybrid work schedule of up to 2 days remote work provided you meet the requirements of NJOHSP’s Pilot Telework Program. NJOHSP also offers a flexible workweek with one day off per week or per pay period. Approval is based on nature of work and operational needs.
NJ RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: In accordance with the New Jersey First Act P.L. 2011 c70, effective September 1, 2011, new public employees are required to obtain New Jersey residency within one (1) year of employment.

The office is led by Director Thomas Hauck and comprised of four Divisions: Intelligence and Operations, Preparedness, New Jersey Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Cell and Administration. The Office is primarily based out of Hamilton with a satellite office in Newark.
