Job Description

Shift Incentive Opportunities:
+ $1.25/hour for hours worked 5pm – 12am
+ $2/hour for hours worked 12am – 8am
+ $3/hour for weekends worked Friday 5pm – Monday 8am

Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Supportive Services Coordinator, the Family Worker will provide Community Living Supports and Respite Care for youth with serious emotional disturbance (SED) diagnosis who are receiving services in the behavioral health system. The FSW will act as a member of the treatment team by working with youth up to age 18 in both family homes and within the tri-county community. Typical duties may include but are not limited to: Skill development related to activities of daily living and assistance to achieve or maintain communication, socialization and relationship-building skills and participation in leisure and community activities. Giving the youth and caregiver(s) a break to allow them to fill their reserves. Providers use modeling, as well as teaching directly with structure, consistency and routine and allow for practice of skills with reminders and prompts of behavior expectations followed up by reinforcing with incentives and rewards. Transportation of youth consumers in your personal vehicle within the tri-county area.

The FSW should possess a strong desire to help others with empathy, patience, understanding, enthusiasm and dedication. They should exhibit characteristics of trustworthiness, integrity, and honesty. The FSW should possess strong communication skills and be able to support and model emotion regulation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills. In addition, the FSW completes necessary documentation in a timely manner, including communicating effectively in both oral and written form, maintains accurate records, including using basic computer software, and performs other related duties as assigned. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures. Requirements: Minimum High School diploma or G.E.D.is required. A minimum of six months’ experience with emotionally impaired children and families is required. Expectation of a varied schedule to include afternoon, evening, and weekend hours. Person must be able to work cooperatively with others and possess good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to re-certify in CPR/First Aide each year following employment. Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use is required.

Conditional Employment Requirements: Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a Michigan State Police clearance check, verification of an acceptable Michigan driving record, and pass a Central Registry Screening annually. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Salary/Hours: $17.62 per hour. 0-19 hours per week with a minimum expected availability to schedule work 10 hr/wk. Applicants must be available to work after school hours (2-8 pm weekdays) and varied availability on weekends.
