Job Title: Musical Advisor; Temporary

Work Site: Ashland High School

Reports to: Principal

Salary: $3,885 - $4,922

JOB SUMMARY

The Musical Advisor directs and oversees student performers, musicians, and volunteers involved in musical productions, providing guidance and support throughout rehearsals and performances. The advisor works closely with students, school administration, and staff to ensure operations align with ASD standards and school expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.

  1. Holds organized, supervised practice as the program requires.
  2. Teaches the skills necessary to participate and be successful.
  3. Develops production goals and objectives and daily plans.
  4. Works with Director to maintain lines of communication with students, staff, and parents.
  5. Provides for the safety and security of all students.
  6. Follows all specified standards, policies, and procedures of the building and Ashland School District.
  7. Actively encourages student participation.
  8. Maintains a positive working relationship with the administration and community.
  9. Provides proper care, maintenance, and security of facilities, equipment, and supplies from the first day of the season until the cycle of responsibility is completed.
  10. Attend work regularly and punctually.
  11. Annually pass the District's required online training by the District's assigned due-date.
  12. While working collaboratively with others, implements decisions within ASD established policies and procedures.
  13. Professionally represent the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students and resolves conflict in a professional manner.

  • Background in a related field.
  • Experience working with high school students in leadership, advisory, or extracurricular settings.
  • Ability to mentor and guide students in leadership development and service learning.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to organize events and supervise students outside of school day and field trips.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others, including understanding and being understood. While much of the work will be completed in an office environment, the employee will need to move between buildings, visiting sites throughout the district. This position requires the use of a variety of digital systems, software, and hardware. This position may require some travel outside the district.
