Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Associate Medical Director for the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) and Medical Director, provides psychiatric services to consumers of the CMHA-CEI CSU. Provides clinical consultation to other treatment team staff. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the department in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.
Requirements: Possession of M.D. or D.O. degree and successful completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency program required. If the applicant is seeking a position treating youth under 18, successful completion of a child and adolescent psychiatry residency is also required. License to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine in the State of Michigan required. Applicants licensed in another state will be considered, but Michigan licensure required prior to hiring. Board certification is required or must be obtained within 18 months from date of hire. Must have one (1) year specialized experience working with the desired population within the past five (5) years. Time in residency training may be included in this experience. Must possess a valid DEA certificate and number. Must be insurable through the professional liability and malpractice insurance provided by CMHA-CEI. Must be able to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and in written form. Demonstrated leadership and excellent judgment required. Access to reliable means of transportation for job related use required. Must be physically able to perform de-escalation techniques in Handle With Care model. Must be physically able to complete physical examinations of consumers in the CSU.
Conditional Employment Requirements: Offers contingent upon the results of background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, verification of professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, Board Certification, Controlled Substance license verification, National Practitioner Databank verification, educational background check and verification of an acceptable work history. May be required to be fingerprinted. Must be able to pass a pre-employment 5-panel drug screen.

Salary/Hours: Salary commensurate with training and experience. Benefits provided at 20 hours per week including Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage. Benefits also include opportunity for loan repayment, 4 weeks of PTO, sick time, defined contribution retirement, and professional liability insurance with employer-paid tail coverage.
