Are you interested in using environmental data and technology to help one of the world’s busiest airports prepare for future challenges? The Environmental Technical Projects Internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience improving data quality, developing meaningful metrics, and supporting environmental resilience at DFW Airport.

Working alongside environmental professionals, the intern will help organize and standardize data across Environmental Affairs Department programs. This work will support the development of a Resilience Stress Testing Tool designed to help assess potential risks and operational performance under extreme conditions. This internship is designed for students interested in environmental science, data analytics, engineering, or a related field.

What you will be doing:

• Inventories environmental and operational datasets, documenting data sources, formats, ownership, and current uses across department programs.
• Reviews datasets for accuracy, completeness, and consistency; identifies gaps and assists with cleaning and standardizing information for analysis.
• Supports the preparation and validation of data for use in the Resilience Stress Testing Tool, working with team members to understand data requirements.
• Assists with reviewing and refining program metrics and developing reports or visualizations that help department leaders assess performance and potential risks.
• Collaborates with program teams to document data definitions, quality checks, and maintenance procedures and recommend improvements that support future analytics projects.

What you need:

• Must be an active student in a Bachelor’s degree program in environmental science, environmental engineering, data analytics, data science, information systems, civil engineering, or a related field.
• 18 years of age or older.

What we desire:

• Current, cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, including but not limited to students attending the following universities: University of North Texas, University of Texas at Arlington, University of Texas at Dallas, Paul Quinn College, or University of Oklahoma.
