Job DescriptionA Welding Engineer develops, manages, recommends, and coordinates the implementation of a sound welding program and processes through improved weld processes, design specification review, techniques, inspections, and safety procedures.   Responsibilities: Establish and document welding processes in accordance with national and military standards and/or specifications. Review welding procedures, processes, and documentation. Develops and executes weld qualification procedures. Creates, submits, and manages WPS(s). Works with management to identify problems and recommend resolutions of welding processes, issues and concerns. Directly interface with the product design engineering team to ensure design for process and manufacturing requirements are addressed and met. Assist and support manufacturing, other support groups, and training center as it relates to weld processes, weld related defects (to include the assistance with repair/rework dispositions to address defects), weld sequencing, and any other weld related needs. Keep abreast of state-of-the-art welding technologies and safety procedures used throughout the industry. Performs all other job-related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education Requirements: Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Welding, Manufacturing, Metallurgy, or Industrial Engineering.   Position Requirements: Demonstrated technical knowledge of material reactions during welding or other manufacturing process is desirable. Demonstrated or proven individual contributor and team player within a mid-size organization. Ability to work independently and closely with a diverse group of people in a team environment. Knowledge of software programs such as AutoCAD, ProE, SolidWorks, Project, MS Word, Outlook and Excel. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated problem identification or analytical resolution skills using statistical comprehension methods. Ability to interface effectively and efficiently with peers, employees, and management within and across the organization.
