2027 Entry Level Engineer Rotation Turbomachinery Operations

The Turbomachinery Operations manufacturing engineer rotation program was created with the intent of developing engineers to help sustain Solar’s manufacturing engineering organization well into the future. Solar has designed a development program that allows Entry Level engineers to work in and be exposed to several different Gas Turbine manufacturing environments.

A manufacturing business unit and mentor will be assigned to the selected candidate upon arrival. The mentor will help in developing a learning plan that, when complete, will provide the experience necessary to become a full time, Charter Part, Manufacturing Engineer. The learning plan will include an 18-month assignment with rotations through four different Manufacturing Business Units. At the completion of the 18-month assignment and rotation, candidates will return to their pre-designated business unit, where they will work as a full time, Charter Part, Manufacturing Engineer for a minimum of 18 months.

Manufacturing Business Units that may be involved in a typical rotation include:

· Turbine Rotor Manufacturing

· Turbine Compressor Manufacturing

· Turbine Assembly Manufacturing

· Turbine Assembly & Test

· Injector Manufacturing

· Combustor Manufacturing

· Airfoil Manufacturing

· Complex Machining & Assembly of Small Turbine Components

· Complex Machining & Assembly of Large Turbine Components

· Experimental Response Manufacturing

· Experimental Development Manufacturing

· Tool Manufacturing

· Tool Design

· Development Engine Test & Build

· NC Programming

· Gas Compressor Manufacturing

This position involves working with Manufacturing/Design Engineers, Shop Operations personnel, Tool Design and Cad Cam groups to develop and execute cost effective, stable manufacturing processes that support a safe and quality conscience work environment.

Solar will provide employee training for the following:

· ProE CAD for Manufacturing

· Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing

· Baan ERP System

· PDM Link Data Management · SFIS (Shop Floor Instructions) Planning system

Minimum Qualifications:

· Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, manufacturing technology, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or other relevant degree.

· Minimum overall GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.

· 0-3 years of relevant experience.

· Must be able and willing to relocate to San Diego, CA.

· Technical knowledge of manufacturing engineering fundamentals.

· Previous Internship and/or relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

· A working knowledge of basic manufacturing engineering practices, tooling concepts, problem solving skills, analytics, and computer skills for component manufacturing is desired.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced cross-functional team environment.

· High energy level and sense of urgency.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Good business / technical judgment.

· Ability to handle multiple priorities for a variety of tasks.

Compensation & Benefits
Base salary for this role ranges from $92,500, to $118,000.

Actual salary will be based on experience.

This position requires working onsite five days a week.Relocation is available for this position.Visa Sponsorship is not available for this position.
