2027 Entry Level: Buyer

Job Summary

We are looking for a Buyer to support our Supply Chain organization by managing purchase orders, supplier relationships, contracts, and supplier performance. This role works closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure quality, cost, and delivery requirements are met while identifying and addressing potential supply risks.

Overview:

  • Create, manage, and follow up on purchase orders.
  • Communicate forecasts, demand, and delivery requirements to suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Support contract preparation, negotiations, and execution.
  • Identify supplier or material risks and work with teams to develop solutions.
  • Resolve supplier issues with a sense of urgency.
  • Manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering, Planning, and other internal teams.
  • Support continuous improvement and business objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal partners.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize competing demands.
  • Experience with ERP software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Fluent business English, both written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Supply Chain experience or internship.
  • Supply Chain certification such as APICS, IIPMR, ISCEA, or ISM.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt certification.

Summary Pay Range:

$77,264.00 - $115,896.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
