Summer 2027 - Electrical Engineering Internship Opportunity at HGA!

Locations: Minneapolis, MN; Milwaukee, WI; and Boston, MA or Washington, DC

Begin to build your future at HGA! We have an excellent opportunity for a college or graduate school student for a paid summer internship in summer of 2027. The summer internship is typically 12 weeks in length beginning on or before June 1, 2027, through mid-August (depending on your schedule).

What you'll do:

As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you'll gain exposure to a wide variety of engineering experiences, including:

  • Assisting with innovative lighting designs that balance aesthetics and technical performance.
  • Supporting the design of power distribution and lighting systems for commercial, institutional, and healthcare facilities.
  • Performing electrical engineering calculations and technical analyses.
  • Researching applicable codes and regulations and coordinating with city, county, and state officials.
  • Reviewing reports, drawings, test results, and design documentation.
  • Utilizing industry-standard engineering and design software to support project delivery.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on projects from concept through implementation.

What you'll bring:

  • Pursuing a degree in Architectural Engineering (with an emphasis in electrical systems) or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Entering your junior year or above of an undergraduate program, or currently enrolled in graduate school.
  • Experience with electrical analysis software such as ETAP, EasyPower, DAPPER, or CAPTOR.
  • Knowledge of AGi32 and/or Visual Pro.
  • Familiarity with Revit is preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.

Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA’s robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Hourly Rate: $24.00/hour - $25/hour (Mid-West) and $29/hour (Boston or Washington, DC).
