Position Summary

• Support building commissioning and retro-commissioning activities under the guidance of experienced commissioning professionals.
• Assist with field observations, system testing, project documentation, and project coordination.
• Gain hands-on experience with building systems and commissioning processes across all phases of project delivery.
• Contribute to commissioning activities while developing technical knowledge and industry experience.
• Seek guidance and ask questions when performing unfamiliar tasks to support continuous learning and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

Commissioning & Field Support

• Assist with commissioning and retro-commissioning activities during design, construction, acceptance, and post-occupancy phases.
• Review drawings, specifications, equipment submittals, and project documents to understand system requirements.
• Support development and completion of commissioning checklists, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance tests.
• Participate in field observations and testing of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and fire/life safety systems.
• Assist with testing, adjusting, and balancing activities under supervision.
• Help troubleshoot building systems and document system performance and operation.
• Follow established commissioning procedures and site safety requirements.

Project Documentation & Coordination

• Document field observations, test results, equipment conditions, and deficiencies.
• Assist with preparation of site observation reports, issue logs, testing documentation, and commissioning deliverables.
• Maintain accurate project records and support project closeout documentation.
• Coordinate site visits, testing activities, and commissioning tasks with project teams and contractors.
• Attend commissioning, construction, and client meetings as appropriate.
• Communicate testing results, observations, and project issues to team members.
• Collaborate with project teams to complete assigned commissioning activities.

Learning & Professional Development

• Develop knowledge of building systems, controls, commissioning processes, construction documents, and industry standards.
• Continuously seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and skills.
• Research and apply company guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures.
• Participate in company training sessions, intern programs, meetings, and development activities.
• Provide general project and team support as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Coursework or experience related to building systems, HVAC, electrical systems, controls, construction, or commissioning preferred.
• Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or building systems preferred.
• Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation preferred.
• Previous internship or related technical experience preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, building automation systems, or similar software preferred.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required for project site travel.
