Job Description

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is seeking to hire an International Project Manager to provide specialized support to researchers throughout the entire lifecycle of awarded international projects, ensuring efficient, rigorous management aligned with funders’ requirements.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comprehensive management of international research projects (especially European programs and other international funders) from the signing of the Grant Agreement to administrative, financial, and contractual closure.
  • Act as a key liaison between researchers, funding bodies, and internal departments, ensuring smooth and efficient communication.
  • Provide expert advice on post-award management, including:
    • Planning, monitoring, and adjusting project budgets.
    • Controlling expense eligibility according to funder regulations.
    • Preparing and validating financial reports, economic justifications, and audit processes.
  • Support contractual and legal management of projects in coordination with the legal department:
    • Negotiation and monitoring of contracts, amendments, and international collaboration agreements.
    • Ensure compliance with contractual, ethical, and regulatory obligations.
  • Coordinate project management:
    • Support in hiring research and technical staff.
    • Manage purchases, subcontracting, travel, and international mobility.
    • Monitor deadlines, deliverables, and milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies and international funding program requirements.
  • Identify risks and issues, proposing proactive solutions to guarantee successful project execution.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of management processes, harmonizing procedures with international standards.
  • Participate in training activities for researchers on international project management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCIE

  • University degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in managing international projects, preferably within European programs.
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
  • Proficiency in Spanish (spoken and written).
  • Proficiency in Catalan (spoken and written).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently, flexibly, and responsibly.
  • Planning ability and global vision, user-oriented, problem-solving skills, team spirit, and focus on continuous improvement.

Will be considered an asset:

  • Experience with other international programs such as US NIH.
  • Proficiency in office tools, especially SAP BUSINESS ONE.
  • Master’s/Postgraduate degree.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • To be defined position, interim contract until the position is filled.
  • Full-time contract: 1,628 hours annually (flexible schedule).
  • Remote work (2 days per week).
  • 23 working days of vacation + 5 personal days + 2 days for Easter + 2 days for Christmas.

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a public research centre located in Badalona. Its main objective is to increase scientific knowledge in order to transform it into solutions to improve the health and medical care of patients and the community.

The Institute is associated with one of the major university hospitals in the Barcelona area, the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, and is part of the Can Ruti biomedical campus. IGTP is a CERCA centre and is also accredited as a centre of excellence by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) and is in charge of coordinating the management and scientific strategy of the campus, working in close collaboration with the other centres.
