SMUD's Sustainable Communities group is looking for a summer intern to help the team with data related projects, maintaining and updating data in spreadsheets, basic internet research, as well as basic data analysis.
The intern will play a key role in the Sustainable Communities Data Team. They will utilize Excel, MS Office tools, and Airtable to help support the data team and community partners. The intern may participate in community events to share Sustainable Communities related materials, will assist with metrics tracking of all Sustainable Communities partners and collect data for the Sustainable Communities Resource Priority Map update.
This internship will enhance an intern's understanding of the Sustainable Community priority funding pillars and provide valuable experience in supporting and developing community nonprofit projects. It will offer opportunities for outreach, public speaking, understanding of the importance of data and insight into supporting a department through data management.

SMUD's College Internship Program provides college interns with an opportunity to contribute their skills and knowledge to SMUD while gaining valuable work experience. Workshops and activities will also be part of the program where interns will have the opportunity to be immersed in SMUD's culture and learn leadership skills as well as develop their professional skills.

Under staff direction, incumbents in this classification are full-time students who perform research and analytical tasks for projects and assignments that utilize specific and acquired academic skills and knowledge in non-engineering subjects and disciplines.
The work performed in this classification calls for regular application of analytical and independent research skills. This work is distinguished from students engaged in repetitive and easily learned tasks who are employed in the Office Assistant (clerical/technical) classification. Incumbents in the Engineering Student Assistant classification perform at a similar level but are restricted to students majoring in an Engineering curriculum and performing tasks that employ acquired mathematical and science knowledge.
Work may include, but is not limited to, the following: (NOTE: While in general all the functions and requirements listed are essential, individual positions and/or locations may not require all duties be performed.)
Registration as a full-time student (minimum of 12 units) at a resident academic institution in a declared curriculum that will provide the specific skills and knowledge that will contribute to available work assignments.

Remote Work: This position will be required to work in the office, onsite atleast one day a week on a regular basis; sometimes more or less, depending on the work. The work schedule will be determined by the Hiring Manager.
