Job Description

Our Dock Crew is responsible for transferring salmon from the beach and fishing vessels (tenders) at our dock to the processing facilities on shore. Our Dock Crew also constructs, maintains, and repairs the facility’s docks, loads/unloads freight, and provides support for the fleet.

General responsibilities

  • Ability to work well with others in a multicultural environment.
  • Must be available to work overtime as required. Typical shift length is 11-18 hours a day, 7 days a week. During season, hours fluctuate based on tides.
  • Perform duties safely, responsibly, and efficiently
  • Timely and predictable attendance. Arrive prepared to perform daily duties.
  • Perform tasks as assigned
  • Exhibit professionalism and quality work standards
  • Follow company and OSHA safety polices, including but not limited to policies related to Covid-19.

Position Details

  • Transfer salmon from various fishing vessels to our processing facilities on shore.
  • Maintain, repair, and construct docks
  • Load and unload freight for fishing vessels
  • Provide support for fisherman including handling and storing of fishing equipment
  • Use vertical ladders and elevated walkways
  • Work on barges, ship decks, and inside fish holds
  • Work as a team in a multicultural environment
  • Outdoor working conditions include rain, snow, wind, hot and cold temperatures
  • Follow written and verbal instructions
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Environment

  • Remotely located in Naknek, AK and Egegik, AK. Must be willing and able to travel by airplane to remote location.
  • Due to remote location, internet access and cell phone service are limited and unreliable at best.
  • Approximate season contract May – end of July (dependent on the salmon run)

Qualifications

  • Construction Experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of pumps and motors - mechanics of their operations (preferred)
  • Rigging and signaling experience (preferred)
  • Equipment operation including but not limited to forklifts, telehandlers, loaders, deuce-and-a-half beach trucks, and cranes
  • Common knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of basic knots and line splicing
  • Available to work the full season.
  • Able to spend the summer without internet access or reliable cell phone service.
  • Ability to work for 11 or more hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to problem solve on the fly
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Current driver’s license or CDL

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds at a time
  • Must be able to work in cold and wet environment
  • Must be able to work with and around seafood

Compensation

  • $17.91/hr starting wage
  • Airfare provided from nearest international airport
