Position Information:
This position provides interpretation services to students, parents, and/or staff for whom English is not their primary language. Interpreting service opportunities usually consist of attending (but are not limited to): conferences, meetings related to student's education, parent/teacher discussions, IEP and other special education meetings, and community events.

This position translates written documents/statements from one language to another language and proof reads documents/statements.

Your application will be placed into an applicant pool for Language Access Intrepreters/Translators. When filling positions, the Hiring Administrator may hire directly from this Pool.

Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) **
  • Bilingual in English and at least one other language

** International diplomas or degrees completed outside of the USA must be evaluated by an international credentials evaluation agency

Licenses/Special Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Washington State Driver's License/ID
  • Must have a reliable method of transportation
  • Must pass the proficiency test upon hire (national/state certification OR a valid Washington State Teacher Certificate with an endorsement in a non-English language may substitute for the proficiency test)
  • Completion of required training upon hire


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience providing translation/interpretation support.
  • Experience working with students/families in an educational setting.
