Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) is a community of high-performing public schools that utilizes a comprehensive approach to prepare students from preschool through high school for success in college and in life. Founded in 2000, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy students represent the neighborhood of MacArthur Park west of downtown Los Angeles, a community that is one of the most under-resourced and densely populated neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Currently, CNCA has six campuses that serve approximately 3,500 students from TK through 12th grade.

About Avance Residency
Avance Residency is led by Camino Nuevo Charter Academy, with partners including Para Los Niños, STEM Preparatory Schools, New LA Charter, and Loyola Marymount University. The Avance Residency is a one-year, robust teacher preparation program for candidates from Central and South Los Angeles. Avance disrupts systems of inequity in teacher preparation to collectively innovate, transform, and provide access and advancement for educators, especially those from our historically marginalized communities. We invest in and develop our residents to thrive, so that our students receive the highest quality education starting on day one. In Avance, teacher residents learn what to teach, how to teach it, and build strong networks of support through cohort learning, mentorship, and university programs.
The Opportunity
Under the supervision of the Director of Teacher Residency, the Residency Learning and Talent Coordinator will support the success of residents and the Avance Consortium. You will provide coaching support to individual residents, own recruitment and selection to attract high-quality resident and mentor candidates, and provide essential administrative support to ensure the program's success. The Residency Learning and Talent Coordinator is a Camino Nuevo Charter Academy employee, and supports all partners within the Avance Consortium. The Residency Learning and Talent Coordinator reports to the Director of Teacher Residency and is a part of the Avance Residency team at Camino Nuevo Charter Academy’s Home Support Office. This is a hybrid role.
Essential Functions

Resident Learning and Development
- Utilize tools, frameworks, and assessments to coach  a cohort of Resident Teachers through observational cycles to ensure readiness for the preliminary credential
- Collaborate with Avance Mentor Teachers and LMU Fieldwork Instructors to ensure alignment in feedback for the Resident Teachers
- Participate in Avance Seminar to support resident learning and development
Recruitment and Selection
- Develop and implement innovative recruitment strategies to attract diverse candidates, especially those from historically marginalized communities.
- Plan and execute effective social media recruitment strategies to effectively promote our program and engage potential candidates.
- Collaborate with schools, consortium liaisons, and key stakeholders to build relationships and expand Avance’s recruitment network.
- Conduct outreach activities, attend career fairs, and organize recruitment events to showcase the benefits of our program
- Manage execution of the application and selection process by organizing application cycle logistics and ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for candidates and members of the selection committee
- Provide one to one meetings and support when needed for potential program applicants, residents, and program alumni.
Transitional Coaching Support
- Support cohorts of Avance graduates with pending credential and induction requirements through a cadence of regular check ins and co-creation of success plans
Administrative Support
- Track and maintain accurate records for current and future residents, mentors, and partners using the Avance Data Home as well as other tracking systems to evaluate the effectiveness of our strategies and program in collaboration with the Avance team
- Provide administrative support to the program team, including managing logistics, preparing materials,  and supporting communications for meetings, professional development, convenings, and events
- Ensure compliance with all administrative procedures and regulations, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Process invoices; ensure documentation and monitoring in adherence to grant reporting requirements.
- Liaise between Avance applicants with LMU teams including but not limited to admissions and advising teams, other candidates, mentors, and CNCA’s Human Assets Team
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Valid Clear California Multiple Subject or Single Subject Teaching Credential or equivalent
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a passion for disrupting inequitable systems in education.
- Experience working with new teachers as a peer mentor or instructional coach
- Experience with social media platforms and digital marketing, particularly in a recruitment context.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Preferred: Experience leading professional learning
- Preferred: Bilingual (oral and written) English and Spanish
