POSITION: 2026-2027 Instructional Para-Professional

LOCATION: Delmar Middle & Senior High Schools

200 N. Eighth Street

Delmar, DE 19940

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of Associate Degree or Minimum of 60 college credits or successful passage of ETS ParaPro
  • Satisfactory Child Protection Registry
  • Mantoux skin test/PPD documentation
  • Cooperative Attitude
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to work collaboratively
  • The State of Delaware requires all public school employees to undergo a criminal background check (state and federal) to determine suitability for employment.
  • Appointment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory criminal background check, which is the responsibility of the employee.
  • The State of Delaware requires new employees to be paid by direct deposit and to be part of a lag payroll system as conditions of employment.
  • Facilitate targeted instruction provided by general education teachers in a classroom setting
  • Assists teachers by performing a variety of tasks that promote student learning and well-being
  • May work individually and in small groups to reinforce instruction, monitor performance, and support learning
  • This position also performs a variety of instructional and classroom management supports, as well as related clerical tasks to support teachers and other professional staff in all classrooms or learning environments

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains a safe environment for students, conducive to learning
  • Assist teacher with student needs; may include feeding, lifting, toileting, and other learning activities
  • Assists in other physical ways as identified in the IEP
  • Reports to work on time every workday, except as afforded by existing law
  • Perform other duties as directed by the school administration

SALARY: As per State and Local Salary Schedules for FY27 based upon verified experience and education.

The Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) provides educational support to residents from birth through adulthood. DDOE supports Delaware public schools – which includes 19 school districts and 23 charter schools – with resources, professional development, grant access and more so that all Delaware students are ready for success in college, career and life.
