The University of Michigan School of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time clinical track faculty position at the Clinical Associate/Full Professor level in the Department of Cariology, Restorative Sciences and Endodontics (CRSE), Division of Restorative Dentistry. The salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and credentials.
The School and the CRSE Department are fully engaged in supporting state of the art dental education that includes evidence-based dentistry, multi-disciplinary education, and digital dentistry. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, providing didactic, pre-clinical and clinical education, and summative/formative student assessment at the pre-doctoral and graduate restorative/cariology level. The candidate must also help support the academic and educational responsibilities of the department, by ensuring the quality and effectiveness of the education and training programs, fostering a positive environment, and advancing the mission of the University of Michigan and the School of Dentistry.
The CRSE Department has an active mentorship program and will provide ample opportunity for development of collaborative research projects. This position offers opportunities for scholarly activities, continuing education, and service, including the ability to establish a robust intramural clinical practice with the UM SOD Dental Faculty Associates Clinic (DFA). The successful candidate for this position must have a Doctor of Dental Surgery/Dental Medicine (DDS/DMD) degree or equivalent and the ability to be licensed in Michigan. Candidates should demonstrate clinical excellence in Operative/Restorative Dentistry and Cariology, including a strong background in advanced operative/restorative dentistry, cariology, biomaterials, digital dentistry, and implant-supported restorations. An Advanced Clinical Education Program Certificate and/or MS/PhD in Operative or Restorative Dentistry is required. Experience in teaching in predoctoral and graduate clinical settings is also required. Demonstrable leadership skills and experience are expected. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of experience with curriculum development and management, and experience in mentorship and scholarly activities.
