Job Description

TITLE: Middle School Team Leader

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Valid West Virginia Teaching certificate for Middle School

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal

SELECTION: The position is filled by the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools

SALARY: $775.00 per year

FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

The Team Leader will be in charge of a professional learning team. The leader will perform a quasi-administrative function as liaison between the school principal and professional learning team in most matters relating to the performance, needs or concerns of the team and their students. Their duties include instructional, guidance, supervisory, and administrative responsibilities such as the following:

  1. Have direct interaction faculty of the team and the students they serve.
  2. Conduct team meetings involving but not limited to:
    1. Facilitation of best practice collaboration among team members.
    2. Analyzing student learning through the analysis of relevant data associated with student learning.
    3. Coordination of grade level thematic units.
    4. Coordination of school wide initiatives (SWPBIS, RSP, DEAR, etc.).
    5. Coordination and Chairmanship of meetings with students, parents, and community members.
    6. Facilitation of professional development for the professional learning team.
    7. Coordination of team membership on various school established committees or teams (PBIS, SLT, SAT/504, Safety, LSIC, Technology, etc.).
  3. Complete, submit, and maintain timely and accurate forms, reports, and records related to all team activities including team meeting notes.
  4. Facilitate communication between team members and parents by telephone, personal visitation, and/or mail to discuss students’ problems.
  5. Serve as liaison between the professional learning team and the principal in all matters.
  6. Work with the school principal to further the schools goals that are documented within the strategic plan.
  7. Provide mentoring to new staff members.
  8. Encourage and support a positive, productive team learning climate that encourages collaboration and furthers the schools mission and vision.
  9. Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the superintendent or immediate supervisor may, from time to time, assign.
  10. Attend meetings with students, parents, or administration outside of the workday as determined by the immediate supervisor.
