Job Description

The Yardhorse Operator move loaded and unloaded trailers from the yard trailer parking area to the dock and returns to the trailer parking area using the yardhorse in a safe manner.

Job Responsibilities

• Seal trailers upon exiting of dock door.

• Inspect yardhorse equipment and all trailers daily and reports unsafe conditions to manager.

• Maintain a safe yard area when parking trailers in respect to distance and staging requirements.

• Assist in the communication with outside carrier’s drivers, including breaking of seals.

• Oversee the pre-loaded trailers in regard to unit operation.

• Keep daily trailer inventory records (yard check).

• Ensure that reefer units are filled with fuel when required.

• Productive use of down time.

• Ability to complete warehouse functions/tasks.

• Perform daily perimeter checks for security; plant doors, suspicious vehicles/activities, report to manager.

• All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.

• All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.

• Other responsibilities as assigned by the Manager/Lead.

Required Education and Experience

• High School diploma or GED.

• Basic product knowledge of raw/finished goods materials.

• Understanding of shipping and receiving processes and related equipment.

• Ability to make minor decisions based on standard practices.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Possession of CDL is helpful.

• Prior yardhorse or tractor trailer experience.

• Lift truck experience.

• Experience in the use of a bar code driven (RF) operation.

Working Conditions

• Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
• Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.
• Hair nets, ear plugs/muffs, hardhats, and/or safety glasses may be required.
• Product weight: up to 100 lbs
• Repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperature of 50-60 degrees F.
• Use of motor skills to safely drive tow motors or other motorized vehicles in tight quarters.
