Job Location: Hanover, PA 17331
Job Shift: DayResponsible for operating the horizontal pressure sterilizing retorts, hydrostatic, and the FMC Sterilmatic cookers.
- Operates the horizontal pressure sterilizing retorts, hydrostatic, and FMC Sterilmatic cookers with minimal supervision.
-  Loads and unloads retorts when required.
- Sterilizes and cooks product according to Quality Assurance specifications.
- Determines that process indicator paint has been properly applied and verifies that indicator paint has turned color (pink to white) indicating that the product has been properly cooked.
- Responsible for physically lifting up to 100 pounds.
- Keeps area clean in accordance with good housekeeping practices.
- Adheres to common safety practices and regulations including the wearing of protective equipment and clothing as required.
- Adheres to the Company’s plant hygiene standards to ensure high product integrity.
- Reports any mechanical and/or safety issues to Supervisor immediately.
- Should not leave work area unless given permission by the Supervisor and/or Leadperson.
- Responsible for the execution of food safety, legality and quality policies and procedures within the scope of the job responsibilities such as but not limited to:  GMP’s, HACCP, safety, product quality, food security, plant security, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor and/or Leadperson.

QualificationsPrevious experience working in a food processing plant.
- Basic math skills
- Ability to record data onto a spreadsheet
- Ability to read a thermometer
- Ability to work with minimal supervision

- Must be able to work overtime as required
- Must maintain a good attendance record.
