Job Description
The Inventory Clerk is responsible for receiving, tracking, storing, and distributing supplies, equipment, and materials while maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring compliance with college and University System of Georgia procedures.
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and condition.
- Maintain inventory records using inventory management software and spreadsheets.
- Tag, label, and track equipment and assets assigned to campus departments.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Organize and maintain stockrooms, storage areas, and warehouse spaces.
- Assist with surplus property processing, storage, and disposal procedures.
- Prepare inventory reports and documentation for audits and departmental review.
- Coordinate deliveries and distribute supplies to campus departments.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors of low-stock items.
- Ensure compliance with institutional safety procedures and inventory control policies.
- Operate office equipment and basic warehouse equipment safely.
- Assist with campus shipping and receiving operations as needed.
- Maintain a clean, secure, and organized work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One (1) year of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, shipping/receiving, or related field preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Excel, Word, and inventory tracking systems.
- Strong organizational, mathematical, and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, vendors, and students.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, and moving inventory.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong time management and multitasking skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Customer-service oriented with professional communication skills.
Work Environment
Work is performed in Bookstore. Position may require standing for extended periods, lifting materials, and exposure to varying temperatures in receiving and storage areas.
