Key Responsibilities May Include:

  • Perform proactive and reactive maintenance activities with a multi-skilled approach, ensuring strict adherence to health and safety protocols at all times.
  • Support the site’s reliability initiatives by identifying failure modes, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to improve equipment performance.
  • Assist in scheduling and executing maintenance tasks, ensuring proper documentation of work orders and tasks to maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Actively seek opportunities to improve maintenance processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and contributing to overall plant performance.
  • Conduct risk assessments for all tasks using site-specific or dynamic risk assessment procedures to ensure the safety of both equipment and personnel.
  • Prioritize employee health and safety, product quality, and environmental protection in all maintenance activities, ensuring all efforts contribute to improved plant performance and reliability.

Position Purpose

As a proactive team member, working varying shifts, the Automation Technician I is responsible for performing and managing plant maintenance programs under the direction of the Plant Manager. Maintenance activities must ensure that employee health and safety, product safety, and the protection of the environment are never compromised, and that all maintenance activities enhance product quality, plant performance and business priorities. The Maintenance Technician 1 will adhere to all health and safety policies and directives and maintain a clean safe work area. This position partners with internal and external engineering services and local parts vendors to ensure automated equipment operates at the highest level of efficiencies and will advocate improvement projects as assigned.

Major/Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for hands on maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all plant pneumatics, hydraulics, and electric systems including program logic control (PLC) systems controls machine network devices (EthernetIP Network). TheMaintenance Technician 2will diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical failures in all plant manufacturing equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, conveyers, process pallet handling machines, dismantling, painting and stencilling systems.

  • Responsible for hands on maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all process hand tools, such as pneumatic or electric reciprocating saws and nail guns

  • Performs minor unscheduled maintenance and repair on trucking equipment such as forklifts and yard shuttle trucks

  • TheMaintenance Technician1is responsible foraccurateandtimelydocumentation of performance and processes as required by local and regional leadership. TheMaintenance Technician 2will schedule,executeand properly document work orders within the corporate Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • TheMaintenance Technician1will accurately completeadditionalscheduling and repair material documentation and reporting asrequired Active participation in machine process and design improvement forums isrequired TheMaintenance Technician 2will providecoaching onuse and repair ofindustrialproductionequipment.

  • Maintenance Technician1willparticipatein health and safety programs including council or committee meetings, OSHA and corporate mandated training,certificationand recertification.

  • Basic use of welding/cutting equipment.

  • And any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Mechanically inclined – Knowledge of and demonstrable ability to use common mechanics tools

  • Willing to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends and holidays with on-call availability.

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience.

  • Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for upto 12 hours and lift 75 pounds.

  • Ability to read and use mechanical and electrical schematics for troubleshooting

  • Ability to use an electrical Multimeter for troubleshooting.

  • Understanding of and ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial pneumatic and hydraulic system components, such as pumps, valves, cylinders, motors and solenoids

  • Understanding of and ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical system componentssuch as motors, variable AC drives, PLCs, and field sensors

  • Understanding of industrial air compressors and peripheral components such as, dryers, water separators and automatic bleed off

Experience

This position requiresdemonstrated experience in maintaining and repairing plant productionequipment. Specific areas of expertise include:

  • 3-5 years ofexperience in industrial machine maintenance.

  • Knowledge ofHMIoperation and troubleshooting.

  • Proven track record ofproduction machine maintenance and repairsuccess

  • History of effectively working in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated successhandling multiple high priority projects, in addition to normal responsibilities

Skills and Knowledge

This position requires knowledge inmaintaining and repairing plant production equipment. Specific areas of expertise include:

Electrical

  • Control panels and power cabinets

  • 3 phase480-voltpower systems

  • Rockwell Automation Compact Logic (RSLogix5000)

  • Ethernet IP networks, EthernetIP on machine devices and VFDs.

  • Yaskawa, Fanuc orKukarobot experience

Mechanical Knowledge

  • Chain Drive Live Roller Conveyor systems

  • Chain Conveyors

  • Belt Conveyors

  • Hydraulics pumps and circuits

  • Air compressors

  • Pneumatic circuits valves

General

  • Ability to use and navigate MS office and internet applications

  • Knowledge of OSHA and Control of Hazardous Energyprocedures and regulations

  • NEC 70E electrical Safety.

  • Ability to use Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Required - English

Desirable - Spanish

  • This role is for 1st shift 530AM-2PM

  • 3-Shift sort & repair operations

  • Semi-automated industrial equipment

  • ~ 180,000 sq. ft. facility with 20+ dock doors

  • Must be flexible with work hours for routine maintenance, potential machine breakdowns and/or new equipment install projects
