This is an administrative role in NPS Divisional headquarters, clusters and functions and reports to the NPS Deputy Director or Head of Operational Function as appropriate
The role is to provide secretarial and administrative support to the Deputy Director or Head of Operational Function by acting as the primary point of contact and assisting in the management of the day to day running of the division, function or cluster through the key tasks of diary coordination, compilation of correspondence and documents and the organisations of meetings and other engagements.
The job holder will have no line manager responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity to join the North West Corporate Services team as a Diary Manager, supporting senior leadership within a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The role offers a unique blend of high-level diary management alongside broader exposure to strategic workforce planning activity across the region.
As a Diary Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective coordination of senior leaders’ time, managing complex and competing priorities, and facilitating the smooth running of key meetings and business activity. You will act as a central point of contact, demonstrating strong organisational skills, discretion, and the ability to anticipate and respond to changing demands.
Key responsibilities include:
In addition to core diary management responsibilities, this role offers enhanced development opportunities through providing secretariat support to the North West Tactical Workforce Group. This will involve:
Supporting the coordination and administration of tactical workforce meetings Collating data, papers, and updates to inform workforce planning discussions Recording actions and decisions, ensuring clear follow-up and accountability Contributing to the effective governance and oversight of workforce activity across the region
The role also provides valuable exposure to supporting applications and workforce processes across the North West region, enabling the postholder to develop a broader understanding of recruitment, resourcing, and strategic workforce priorities.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative environment, is confident working with senior stakeholders, and is keen to develop their experience within Corporate Services and workforce planning at a regional level. There will be a requirement to travel in this role due to regional tasks. An expectancy to attend Preston Probation office a minimum of once a month for face to face meeting.
Working Arrangements & Further Information
The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. This is an informal, non-contractual form of flexible working that blends working from your base location, different MoJ sites and / or from home (please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas). Some roles will not be suitable for Hybrid Working. Similarly, Hybrid Working will not suit everyone’s circumstances. Arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate(s) and subject to regular review.
For nationally advertised roles, the successful candidate(s) will be appointed to a MoJ office location, which may include their nearest Justice Collaboration Centre or Justice Satellite Office. This will be discussed and agreed on the completion of pre-employment checks.
Some of MoJ’s terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post. Details will be available if an offer is made.
Standard full time working hours are 37 hours per week excluding breaks which are unpaid. HMPPS welcomes part-time, flexible and job-sharing working patterns, where they meet the demands of the role and business needs. Annual Leave
Annual leave is 25 days on appointment and will increase to 30 days after five years’ service, plus public holidays. Leave for part-time and job share posts will be calculated on a pro-rata basis
