Brief description

The main purpose of this position is to develop and implement key capabilities to support business strategy of the South African Reserve Bank (the Bank) which includes the definition of key processes, products and services as well as the frameworks and reference models for future enterprise architecture (EA).

Detailed description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Develop and implement the business architecture practice, consisting of the following, but no limited to capabilities, value streams, products and business services in support of the business strategy.
  • Develop the business capabilities aligned to the business strategies and in support of the SARB mandate.
  • Develop the business capability landscape and provide scope and input into the enterprise and solution architecture teams for the creation of the other architecture domains.
  • Identify and define key value streams.
  • Develop and implement AS-IS (baseline) and TO-BE (target) business architectures.
  • Perform capability-based planning and develop business-oriented roadmaps.
  • Establish and maintain the Business Architecture Reference Models and framework.
  • Develop and maintain business architecture domain principles.
  • Collaborate with the various solution architecture, domain architecture and enterprise architecture teams in BSTD and across the Bank with relevant stakeholders.
  • Implement and facilitate business architecture governance.
  • Provide technical guidance, coach and mentor relevant stakeholders on business architecture.

Job requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:

  • A post graduate qualification at NQF 8;
  • Industry-specific certifications such as TOGAF 9.1 and SABSA Foundation or security industry certifications such as CISSP-ISSAP, GSE and CGEIT; and
  • A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in Business Architecture and/or Senior Business Analysis and /or Process Engineering and/or other Enterprise Architecture domain experience with a strong business focus.

The SARB is responsible for regulating cross-border transactions, preventing the abuse of the financial system and supporting the regulation of financial institutions.

Payments and Settlements

The SARB is responsible for ensuring the safety and soundness of the national payment system, which is the backbone of South Africa’s modern financial system.

The SARB provides important economic and financial statistics that present an overview of the economic situation in South Africa.
