Candidates with a background in neurology or neuro-oncology are preferred. Relevant experience in these fields is essential.
The Nurse Practitioner is accountable for facilitating quality hospital experience and outcomes for patients within a cost-effective time frame.
The Nurse Practitioner will report to the Medical Director of Patient Services and be responsible for overseeing the progress of a specific caseload of patients across the care continuum, including pre-admission and post-discharge when feasible.
Acts as an educator, consultant, and liaison to healthcare providers caring for patients across the care continuum.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates a fundamental grounding in nursing theory and practice with mastery of knowledge within a defined content area.
Manages a caseload of patients in partnership with the healthcare team to optimize health status and coordinate care over time and across healthcare settings.
Provides leadership in the development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of standards, policies, procedures, and critical paths to support the patient care delivery model.
Oversees care coordination in acute, home care, and ambulatory care settings as feasible.
Assists the healthcare team to achieve mutually agreed upon healthcare goals by providing necessary support, education and encouragement.
Demonstrates advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills and knowledge of family dynamics.
Provides direct care to patients in acute care, ambulatory care and home care settings.
Performs advanced practice skills under the supervision of the Medical Director.
Provides expert consultation for clinical issues, promoting increased knowledge and skills for the consultee.
Participates in education, clinical research and mentoring of healthcare providers.
Facilitates patient/family education in the area of expertise.
This position provides advanced patient care within the neuro- oncology division in the department of neurology.
Performs minor procedures, including lumbar puncture and intrathecal chemotherapy, under the guidance of overseeing physicians.
Participates in multidisciplinary meetings with departments of radiation and neurosurgery.
Annually completes mandatory safety infection control, BLS, and ACLS/PALS. Prescriptive privileges per licensure.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
Masters of Science Degree, Graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Specialty certification required.
Baccalaureate in Nursing
Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
EXPERIENCE:
Preferred qualifications include experience in Neuro-Oncology or Neurology.
Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience as a registered nurse in an acute care hospital setting, with an additional preference for 1-2 years of clinical practice as a nurse practitioner.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
General hospital environment with occasional stressful conditions associated with patient care.

None.
Pay Range:
$127,504.00-$161,782.40
