Get to Know Darwoft
At Darwoft, we build custom software solutions and partner with international companies to create high-impact digital products.
We are a Latin American technology company with a people-first culture, strong technical standards, and a long-term partnership mindset. We work with distributed teams, complex engineering challenges, and customers where technology has a direct impact on business outcomes.
We are looking for professionals with strong technical judgment, autonomy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build robust, scalable, and sustainable solutions.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to join a high-impact international project focused on enterprise software modernization and the adoption of AI-assisted development workflows.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing technical position. It is not a traditional support or purely advisory role.
You will work directly within enterprise engineering organizations, acting as the primary technical bridge between customer stakeholders, Platform Engineering teams, Customer Success teams, and the software modernization platform.
You will own the technical execution of large-scale modernization programs across complex enterprise codebases. These initiatives may include upgrading frameworks across hundreds or thousands of repositories, migrating Java applications, remediating security vulnerabilities, replacing legacy platforms, integrating enterprise build pipelines, and developing custom OpenRewrite recipes.
You will also help customers understand how automated code transformation can become foundational infrastructure for AI coding agents operating across large-scale software ecosystems.
What You'll Be Doing
Enterprise Technical Advisory
- Own post-sales technical execution across a portfolio of large enterprise customer accounts.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor and OpenRewrite subject matter expert.
- Partner with VPs of Engineering, Principal Architects, Platform Engineering leaders, and other senior stakeholders.
- Translate business and engineering objectives into executable software modernization strategies.
- Navigate complex technical, organizational, and political environments within enterprise customers.
- Advocate for customer requirements and provide technical feedback to internal product and engineering teams.
- Identify adoption barriers, technical risks, and opportunities to increase platform value.
Large-Scale Software Modernization
- Plan and execute mass-scale modernization initiatives across hundreds or thousands of repositories and microservices.
- Lead framework and runtime upgrades, including Spring Boot modernization and Java version migrations.
- Support migrations from legacy platforms and outdated enterprise architectures.
- Automate the remediation of security vulnerabilities, including issues related to the OWASP Top Ten.
- Improve code quality, security posture, migration readiness, and long-term maintainability.
- Define repeatable modernization patterns that can be applied across large application portfolios.
- Help customers understand and analyze their codebases at an organizational scale.
OpenRewrite Engineering
- Design, develop, test, and deploy custom OpenRewrite recipes.
- Translate organization-specific code patterns into deterministic and reusable transformations.
- Support customer engineering teams in building their own recipes.
- Diagnose edge cases involving static analysis, source parsing, compilation, and transformation accuracy.
- Work with OpenRewrite concepts such as Lossless Semantic Trees — LSTs.
- Contribute to reusable recipes for framework upgrades, migrations, security remediation, and code-quality improvements.
- Support contributions from customers and the wider open-source community.
Enterprise Integration and Troubleshooting
- Integrate the platform into enterprise development environments and CI/CD workflows.
- Provide expert guidance on Maven, Gradle, and other enterprise build systems.
- Troubleshoot complex build failures, dependency conflicts, classpath issues, and compilation errors.
- Diagnose integration issues involving private artifact repositories, enterprise security controls, and internal infrastructure.
- Work with artifact management platforms such as Artifactory and Nexus.
- Support CI/CD platforms including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and GitLab CI.
- Resolve complex technical escalations requiring deep investigation across repositories, pipelines, infrastructure, and application code.
AI-Assisted and Agentic Development
- Help enterprise customers adopt modern AI-assisted development workflows.
- Integrate AI coding assistants and coding agents with automated code transformation capabilities.
- Support workflows involving AI-generated code, agent-driven pull request automation, and LLM-based code generation.
- Help organizations implement governed and deterministic engineering workflows for AI agents operating across large codebases.
- Identify patterns in AI-generated code that create new modernization, quality, security, or remediation requirements.
- Translate emerging patterns into reusable recipes, tools, and engineering standards.
- Work with tools and concepts such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, MCP, agent frameworks, and OpenRewrite recipes used as agent tools.
Customer Enablement
- Lead technical workshops, demonstrations, and enablement sessions.
- Present complex engineering concepts to both technical and executive audiences.
- Train customer teams on platform capabilities, OpenRewrite, automated transformation, and modernization practices.
- Create technical documentation, examples, and reusable implementation guidance.
- Support large engineering organizations in building internal expertise and adoption.
Catalog and Ecosystem Expansion
- Monitor new language, framework, platform, and infrastructure releases relevant to enterprise customers.
- Proactively identify opportunities to expand transformation and modernization coverage.
- Develop reusable recipes for new versions and widely applicable technology changes.
- Contribute to modernization capabilities across ecosystems such as:
- Java and the JVM
- NET
- JavaScript and TypeScript
- Node.js
- Python
- Go
- Scala
- YAML
- Kubernetes
- Terraform
- Infrastructure as Code
