Job Description

Assists the Quality Control Officer or Program Manager in overseeing quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement programs and initiatives within the Quality Management System (QMS) of the Health Laboratory or STD/HIV division, including the development, review, implementation, and communication of all quality processes.
1. Assists in the implementation and oversight of quality assurance designed to ensure the personnel are committed to achieving and maintaining quality through comprehensive policies and procedures, and compliance with all local, state, and federal accreditation, regulatory standards.

2. Tracks, analyzes, and reports program objectives associated with grant contracts, metrics, providing feedback, and proposing corrective activities in a timely manner to ensure the needs, expectations and requirements are met.

3. Assists in improving practices and activities through the recommendation and preparation of continuous improvement projects to ensure grant and programmatic compliance.

4. Generates and reviews technical documents and reports using effective written communications and utilizes professional language and tone in oral communications of quality – related tasks with various levels of management and personnel.

5. Performs internal monitoring and provides support with external audits of processes and activities and provides preventative recommendations to the Quality Control Officer or Program Manager.

6. Adheres to policies and principles governing professional ethics and rules of conduct. Ensures restricted or confidential documents are not disclosed.

7. Other duties as assigned. Education, Experience and Training:
Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Biological, Chemical, Physical Science, Business, Public Health or in a related field of study.

Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of standard software applications such as SAS, JMP. Etc. is desirable. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, and the general public. Special consideration will be given to applicants with certifications in quality or demonstrated experience directly related to the job duties.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Standard office and laboratory environment.
