Passed or Successful passage of the custodian competency test

Ability to perform physical labor including lifting, bending, and extended periods of standing or walking
Ability to Interpret and Transmit Written Communication

Provide supplemental custodial support across Barbour County Schools facilities. This position is designed to assist school sites experiencing increased custodial demands due to special events, staff absences, seasonal needs, or other operational requirements. Work assignments will be determined by the Superintendent or designee and may vary from week to week.

Responsibilities

  • Provide custodial support at district facilities as assigned.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, restroom sanitation, and waste removal.
  • Assist with setup and teardown for school events, activities, and special functions.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and orderly environments in cafeterias, gymnasiums, and other school spaces.
  • Follow established cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and district guidelines.
  • Operate custodial equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, and other tools.
  • Report maintenance or safety concerns to the building administrator or supervisor.
  • Travel between assigned school sites as needed.

Employment Term: As assigned; hours vary based on district needs
