The Category Management Analyst (Equipment) provides critical operational and analytical support to manage the equipment lifecycle and capital expenditure pipeline. This role focuses on securing delivery confirmations with key vendors, partnering with internal sites to ensure on-time equipment arrival, and actively expediting orders. The Analyst utilizes spend analysis, cost modeling, and market intelligence to support equipment sourcing strategies and vendor negotiations.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Order Expediting & Delivery Tracking: Actively track open equipment purchase orders; obtain firm delivery confirmations from key vendors and proactively mitigate potential delays.

  • Site Coordination: Partner closely with site operations, engineering, and logistics teams to align vendor delivery schedules with site readiness and project timelines.

  • Vendor Management & Negotiation: Maintain regular communication with key equipment vendors to monitor performance, resolve lead-time issues, and assist in commercial negotiations for equipment pricing, warranties, and service terms.

  • Spend Analysis & Cost Modeling: Conduct detailed spend analysis, develop total cost of ownership (TCO) models, and maintain savings trackers specific to the equipment category.

  • Sourcing Support: Assist in drafting RFXs (RFI, RFP, RFQ) for equipment procurement and provide data-driven recommendations for supplier selection.

  • KPI Reporting: Monitor and report on category-specific KPIs, including Vendor On-Time Delivery (OTD), lead-time variance, and cost savings.

  • Market Intelligence: Conduct benchmarking and market research to monitor global equipment manufacturing trends, supply chain constraints, and commodity price impacts.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Expediting & Coordination: Proven ability to manage order backlogs, expedite critical shipments, and coordinate logistics across multiple stakeholder sites.

  • Vendor Relations: Strong communication and tactical negotiation skills to hold vendors accountable to delivery schedules and service level agreements (SLAs).

  • Analytical Skills: High proficiency in Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables) and data visualization tools to interpret complex lead-time, financial, and operational data.

  • Problem-Solving: A proactive approach to troubleshooting supply chain bottlenecks and equipment delays.

Typical Experience

  • Two to four years relevant experience.

Typical Education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Business or Engineering), or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
