This position acts within the scope of practice of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Performs a variety of clinical duties which promote a safe and organized environment for the delivery of services to children and their families within the urgent care setting. This position reports to an Urgent Care supervisor.
Essential Functions
Adheres to all CW and Urgent Care policies, procedures, and standards. Ensures confidentiality to our customers by creating and maintaining a secure and trusting environment; maintains HIPAA compliance. Provides exceptional care to patients and families to fulfill our patient experience promise.
Regularly performs CNA duties within the scope of professional practice and maintains own urgent care competencies as determined by position scope of practice. * Completes rooming process and prepares patient for provider visit. * Obtains vital signs (height, weight, , manual heart rate, respiratory rate, BP, etc). * Specimen collection (with exception of swabbing or catheterizing) and runs point of care tests. * Assists with procedures and performs tasks, such as splinting, as directed by the provider.
Alerts provider or Registered Nurse (RN) of any patient needing immediate assistance.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. * Maintain knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. * Understand data reflective of the patient's status. * Interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs. * Provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
Applies Front Desk Service Standards to provide exceptional care to patients and families. Communicates wait time updates to patients and families. Provides clerical support to the clinic through answering and directing telephone calls, opening, sorting and routing incoming mail.
Completes accurate registration as outlined by the Patient Access Complete Registration policy including MyChart activation. Manages assigned work queues to ensure accuracy and completion per department guidelines. Utilizes scheduling applications to facilitate appointment scheduling and cancellations.
Maintains a clean and organized environment through stocking supplies and disinfecting furniture and medical supplies as needed.
Attends staff meetings and in-services and keeps abreast of communication that affects patient careand clinic operations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required
Currently registered with the State of Wisconsin Registry for Nursing Assistants/Home Health Aides to be eligible for employment in the basic provider settings plus federally certified home health agencies and hospices or a graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Certified Nursing Assistant certifications are not required to be renewed after hire. required
Experience:
Customer service experience required
Knowledge of medical terminology obtained through passing a medical terminology course, or demonstrated through work experience required
Pediatric experience required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficient in the Microsoft Windows environment.
Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills necessary to work independently in a fast paced multi-functioned department
Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to assist patients, parents, and physicians and other staff.
Required flexibility to prioritize efforts to meet needs of the patients, parents, physicians and other staff.
Ability to walk/stand for approximately 50% of the work time and to frequently squat/ bend/ kneel, lift/carry, pull/push weights of approximately 20 lbs. and moderately 50 lbs, as well as lift and position patients weighing up to 75 pounds. May occasionally reach overhead to obtain supplies from storeroom or freezer/ refrigerator.
Will require travel to any Urgent Care location.
During periods of high volume, additional shifts may be required.
Licenses and Certifications:
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required
