04105A - Lead, Maintenance Mechanic
The Lead Maintenance Mechanic plays a key role in supporting the Maintenance Supervisor by coordinating daily maintenance activities, ensuring equipment reliability, and leading maintenance team members to achieve operational, safety, quality, and production goals. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities to support efficient plant operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform all duties associated with the Maintenance Mechanic role while providing day-to-day leadership and guidance to maintenance team members.
• Assist in organizing and prioritizing maintenance activities to support production schedules and minimize downtime.
• Monitor equipment performance and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
• Reassign work and provide coverage during employee absences, breaks, or staffing shortages as needed.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and perform repairs to maintain optimal equipment performance.
• Support the Maintenance Supervisor in training, coaching, and cross-training maintenance personnel.
• Serve as a point of contact for team members in the absence of the supervisor and communicate operational concerns to management.
• Document workplace incidents, injuries, equipment issues, and policy violations for supervisory review and follow-up.
• Ensure safe handling and use of chemicals while adhering to Hazard Communication requirements and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) guidelines.
• Promote and maintain compliance with all safety policies, GMPs, sanitation standards, food safety requirements, and quality management systems.
• Participate in preventive maintenance programs, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Reporting Relationship
Reports to: Production Manager
Leadership Responsibilities:
This position provides indirect leadership and guidance to production and sanitation personnel while supporting the Maintenance Supervisor in coordinating daily operations.
Responsibilities include:
• Assisting with employee training and development
• Coordinating and assigning work activities
• Supporting operational planning and workflow efficiency
• Addressing employee concerns and escalating issues when appropriate
• Promoting a positive, safe, and productive work environment
