Job Description

Service Excellence: All team members of Southeast Georgia Health System will promote service excellence by developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers, other team members, and the medical staff and will ensure the highest quality of care by performing their responsibilities according to the highest professional standards.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assists the Director of Facilities in the preparation all operational and capital budgets for the department as well as the creation and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Assists the Director in ensuring compliance with all regulatory authorities and agencies.
  • Coordinates the maintenance, testing, and inspection of Life Safety equipment, fire protection equipment, security systems and generators for the Health System.
  • Assists the Director in evaluating service contracts and purchasing practices to ensure best practice and pricing and consolidation between campuses.
  • Ensures department policies, procedures, plans, and required documentation are kept up to date and applicable to current standards.
  • Ensures all blueprints (especially Life Safety Drawings) and policies are kept up to date.
  • Performs Environment of Care inspections at Brunswick Campus and offsite locations and reports findings to Department Director and Safety Committee.
  • Ensures Infection Control procedures and appropriate Interim Life Safety Measures are implemented during construction projects.
  • Provides monthly report to the Safety Committee regarding status of life safety compliance and special projects.
  • Manages the Environment of Care and Life Safety chapters to ensure continuous accreditation survey readiness.
  • Ensures the Facilities Management department is properly staffed at all times and that all department team members receive the appropriate training to successfully complete assigned tasks.
  • Ensures policies and procedures are adhered to by all departmental personnel.
  • Manages all personnel issues as related to each area of maintenance and plant operations.
  • Ensures all department tasks are completed in a timely manner and within the approved budgets for the department.
  • Responsible for all regulatory compliance with outside agencies, such as OSHA and the Joint Commission, and appropriate policies, procedures, and documentation, including EOC, Utilities Management and Life Safety.
  • Responsible for the overall upkeep of the buildings and equipment throughout the Health System.
  • Responsible for ensuring the facilities departments are staffed for all shifts and areas.
  • Ensures proper training and certification of all staff as needed. Responsible for effective communication to team members of all information from Senior Leadership. Maintains a positive and harmonious work environment.
  • Provides support and assistance regarding construction management for new projects. Assists the Director with special projects and needs as assigned.
  • Responsible for the development of assigned reports and communications to Leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

Experience

  • 5 years director-level experience within Facilities Management required, preferably in a health care environment.

Licensure

  • ASHE Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM) or Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Must be knowledgeable of Joint Commission/DNV standards and other regulatory standards such as OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and state affiliated agencies; knowledgeable of the Universal Building Code and the Southern Building Code and be able to multi task issues.
