The Laboratory Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant testing services. This role leads laboratory staff, maintains regulatory and quality standards including CLIA licensure, and supports the development and expansion of laboratory services. The Laboratory Manager also serves as a key resource for provider education, workflow coordination, equipment oversight, and communication of test results, while promoting a safe, efficient, and high-quality laboratory environment.
Responsibilities include:
• Maintaining CLIA licensure
• Provider Outreach & Education on lab testing capabilities and processes
• Evaluate ROI on potential future tests to add to lab compendium
• Supervise and develop Lab Technicians, Technologists, and Phlebotomists as needed
• Stay current on technical and scientific advances in the field
• Determining and performing tests needed for analysis and reporting
• Recording tests and analyses and then reporting the results
• Discussing and answering any questions regarding the results
• Organizing and storing samples in accordance with all safety and other requirements to ensure the safety of personnel and integrity of the sample
• Inter-department communication about workflows and results
• Cleaning and maintaining lab equipment, including recalibration of equipment
• Maintaining equipment records and daily work logs and ordering supplies as needed
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field.
• Valid MLT (Medical Lab Technician) license.
• Proven experience working as a lab technician.
• Working experience operating electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment.
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and database systems.
• Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of electronic and computerized equipment in laboratories.
• Able to follow instructions and strictly follow procedures.
• Superb dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Strong critical thinking skills.
