Job Description

Assists in the development and implementation of health education and health promotional activities to meet the needs of a given population/group of Dallas County for a particular or specialized program to include participating in established partnerships with other interested health entities/ individuals to focus on design and implementation of promotional strategies that successfully address community/program health issues for a specific population/group; identifies appropriate population/group specific language media for notices, announcements, and informational needs of the population/group and liaisons with community outreach and represents the department/division at meetings and various activities of community organizations.
1. Researches training materials, resources, and facilitates related to public health education programs for the community or a specific group as well as develops, coordinates, and conducts health education programs and activities.

2. Assist in writing, editing, and coordinating the development of promotional, educational, training materials, newsletters, brochures as appropriate to the program for the community or given population/specific group as well as develops health education materials and resources for Health and Human Services and responds to requests from the community for literature.

3. Oversees monthly health promotional displays within the department.

4. Identifies populations or specific groups, communities, and organizations that would benefit from public health training courses and program.

5. Provides translation services to non-English speaking residents and serves as initial point of contact for the non-English speaking residents for the targeted group, Medical Reserve and Corp Volunteers.

6. Performs other duties as assigned. Education, Experience and Training:
Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Health Education, or in a job related field of study. One (1) year of work related experience in a health care setting.

Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, with a good driving record and reliable transportation. Bilingual is preferred or may be required based on community/group targeted.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Standard office environment. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., unassisted. Ability to visit various off site work locations.
